Following Weekend Snowstorms, Several School Districts in the Lower Mainland Were Closed on Monday

Email :514

Several school districts across the Lower Mainland were forced to close on Monday following weekend snowstorms that left roads unsafe. Langley, Abbotsford, and Mission school districts shut down, along with public schools in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

In contrast, the Chilliwack School District confirmed that buses were running and classes would take place. Schools in North Vancouver, Vancouver, Surrey, and Burnaby remained open.

Post-secondary institutions were also affected. Capilano University’s North Vancouver campus was closed, but its other campuses were open. The University of British Columbia canceled all in-person classes, while Kwantlen Polytechnic’s Langley and Cloverdale campuses were closed until noon. Other schools, including Simon Fraser University and Langara, remained open. Valley Christian School and Pacific Academy also closed for the day.
