Los Angeles (KTLA) — Ken Flores, a promising comedian in the LA comedy scene, tragically passed away on Tuesday at the age of 28.

The comedian, whose full name was Kenyi Flores, was found dead at his home on Tuesday afternoon. While the cause of death has not been disclosed, his untimely passing has left the comedy world in shock.

Originally from Chicago, Flores gained recognition working alongside well-known Southern California comics such as Gabriel Iglesias and Jo Koy. His success in the industry led him to create a platform for other Latino comedians through his show, “LatinXL,” which was hosted at the Comedy Store in Chicago. The show’s Instagram page shared a heartfelt tribute to Flores, acknowledging his immense contribution to the comedy scene.

“LatinXL began as an idea during late-night conversations before the pandemic, born out of a desire to create opportunities for Latinos in comedy,” the tribute read. “Ken was the heart and soul of this initiative, and the ‘XL’ in LatinXL was a nod to his larger-than-life personality. Without him, the show wouldn’t have existed. Our hearts are with his family, and we share the grief with all who knew him.”

The Hollywood Improv also paid tribute to Flores, recognizing his exceptional talent and kindness.

“We were honored to showcase your talent on our stage. Your greatness was undeniable, and it was only a matter of time before the world saw it. You were not only an amazing comedian but also a generous friend to everyone lucky enough to know you. Thank you, Ken, for all the laughs.”

Comedian Sampson McCormick also shared his memories of Flores, noting his professional skill and warm character.

“Ken was a fantastic comic and an even cooler person,” McCormick wrote. “Sending my love to his family during this difficult time.”

Flores will be remembered not only for his stage presence but for the positive impact he had on those around him.
