The Winnipeg Jets secured their fourth consecutive win with a dominant 4-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. Kyle Connor netted two goals, while goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 24 crucial saves to seal the win for the Jets.
Mark Scheifele also contributed a goal, and Rasmus Kupari added an empty-netter late in the game. Gabriel Vilardi provided a pair of assists to help the Jets extend their impressive streak.
The Canadiens took an early lead in the first period when Juraj Slafkovsky capitalized on a feed from Nick Suzuki at 11:03. However, Winnipeg quickly responded. Connor evened the score at 15:36, and Scheifele put the Jets ahead 2-1 in the second. Connor’s second goal, with just two seconds remaining in the middle period, further sealed the deal.
Montreal goaltender Sam Montembeault faced 24 shots, stopping 20, but couldn’t prevent his team from losing their third straight game. The Canadiens had previously won 10 of their last 13 games before this setback.
Jets’ Key Performances:
- Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele both reached 29 goals on the season, placing them tied for second in the league.
- Connor Hellebuyck, considered a frontrunner for his third Vezina Trophy, earned his 31st win of the season, the most in the NHL.
For Montreal, the loss was compounded by an injury to defenseman Kaiden Guhle, who fell awkwardly into the boards during the third period and was unable to return to the game.
The Winnipeg Jets are on a roll, while the Canadiens will look to bounce back after this tough defeat.
